Fredriksborg Fortress
Historic Site

Fredriksborgs Fästning vid Oxdjupet was the country's strongest fortress when it was completed in 1735. The beach structure with a cannon tower by the water and the large Oxdjupet tower on the plateau housed a total of 86 cannons and could house up to 2,000 men. From the observation tower you can see all the way to Stockholm. Its two officers' residences from the 18th century were rebuilt in 2013-2015 into a hotel and restaurant.

Fredriksborg Hotel has daily guided tours for guests staying, eating or having coffee every open day May-September. The guide shows around and tells about Sweden's and local history from the 16th century to today. At other times, the fortress is not open on the inside. On request, the hotel can offer guided tours of the Myttingen line, talk about the wrecks in Oxdjupet or organize guided tours for groups at any other time.

Fredriksborg Hotel
Hotel

Fredriksborg Hotel is a unique small hotel with only 15 rooms. The hotel was created in 2013-2015 in the two 18th-century officers' buildings that once belonged to the fortress.

The entire area includes a cannon jetty with summer dining, a cannon tower and a guest jetty down at Oxdjupet, where today all large cruise ships pass towards Stockholm. The hotel is situated on the plateau, with a restaurant section, orangery and outdoor terrace from where the view of the archipelago from north to south is incomparable.

All in the shadow of the large fortress tower which can be used for wedding parties, guided tours or a drink in the high observation tower. Fredriksborg has a long history dating back to the 16th century and is secluded but reachable both by land and sea with municipal transport nearby. Idyllic high location with a view over Solöfjärden and the Träl Sea as well as over all the ships that glide past in the narrow Oxdjupet.
