The battery was built to serve as defense in the cold war and was finished in 1968. It is a large coastal facility with accommodation, military offices, a kitchen, and medical and power facilities in the mountain. The battery was top secret and once employed a crew of 340 men. Today, it is a museum with guided tours arranged by Arholma Nord.
