Grinda

A one hour boat ride away from Stockholm, you can get off the ferry at Grinda and find yourself immersed in leafy archipelago nature. You can find a hotel, hostel, guest harbour and cottages for rent here as well as a local shop, café and restaurant.
It was the then director of the Nobel foundation, Henrik Santesson, who bought the island in 1906 and built a large jugend-style palace as his summer home. That large villa is Grinda Wärdshus(Inn) today. The whole island is a nature reserve with its varying vegetation, active agriculture and beautiful places to go for a swim.
