Bengtskär and Surrounding Islands

Bengtskär Lighthouse is bathed in light at sunset.

The rugged outcrop of Bengtskär and its neighbouring islands are scattered to the south of Kimitoön. Some of the islands here in the outer archipelago barely measure two hectares, but even so, they are rich in history, culture, and natural diversity. Bengtskär, for example, is home to the tallest lighthouse in the Nordic countries as well as a growing population of eiders. There are ferry connections from Kasnäs and Rosala to Bengtskär in the warmer months, where you can climb to the top of the lighthouse and take in the view of the endless sea.
